The Originals

I started watching this show when it first started but due to school and work and not having time for anything else, I never really got into it and stopped.
Now that I'm just working and have time to do almost anything I want, I started watching this again. Today, I am home sick and have been watching this the entire day. Let's just say, I will probably be finished with the first series this week.

On a side note, I love Davina's lips :P

Danceparty!

Let's all take a few minutes and have a dance party in the kitchen/living room/wherever you fancy! I promise you're gonna feel thousand times better afterwards! Such a good stress reliever.

I love the Guardians of the Galaxy. I wasn't expecting anything when I went to see it originally but the first thing I noticed when it started was the awesome song in the second scene and that just continued throughout the film. I really, really wanted to dance many times. Such great songs (and movie)! Wow!
Marvel has certainly been on a winning streak these last few years and it looks like they've got the formula for making a fun "comic book" movie down to a T.

My favorite is "Come and Get Your Love" by Redbone

**Fun Fact**
The actress who plays Nebula, Karen Gillian normally has long red hair but for her role as Nebula, she shaved it all off.

The Newsroom

Can we please, just please have more shows like The Newsroom ? I really love this show, the way it connects its story plot to real events. It makes it so relevant and you feel like you are a part of the show, like it's real.
I also kinda like how the third series is the last one. I know it's probably because it wasn't getting enough ratings but I like to think it's because they wanted to go out swinging.

Will McAvoy & co., you're real cool :D

Bananadate bread

Tonight I wanted a banana bread but I only had one brown banana so I had to improvise. I had some dates to add some more sweetness. Bananabread usually has milk but I didn't have any so I used 10 more grams of butter and hot water.
This recipe is not perfect, like I said, I would have used two bananas if I'd had them but I just wanted to show you that you can still bake/cook something even though you don't have all the ingredients. You can substitute many ingredients for others and then, it will be your own recipe ;-)

Recipe for a bananadate bread

2 eggs
1 dl sugar
3 & 1/4 dl flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 dl hot water
70 gr butter
7 dates
1 big brown banana*

*If you have two bananas, do use two. It will only make the bread more moist and keep it from crumbling.
Start by whisking the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.
Melt the butter in a pot. When it's mostly melted, cut the dates and put into the butter to soften them up.
Mix the flour, baking soda and vanilla into the egg mix.
Mash the dates as much as you can and put into the mixing bowl.
Mash the banana and put into the mixer with the hot water and blend everything together.

Put the dough into the form *I used parchment paper instead of buttering the form cause I'm lazy* .
Heat the oven to 180° celcius and bake the bread for 40-50 minutes or until you can stick a pin in the middle of the bread and having it come out clean.

*A good advice if you are a home of one or two is to freeze half the bread when it has cooled down.

The bread is best when it's hot out of the oven with lots of buttah!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1

Ég fór með systur minni á þessa mynd á föstudagskvöldið, eftr mikinn spenning, mest af minni hálfu. Við fórum í laugarásbíó og það kom mér á óvart hvað þetta bíó er ótrúlega fínt. Ég var búin að gleyma hvað það er þægilegt, sérstaklega eftir að þeir stækkuðu aðeins hvar klósettin eru staðsett. Það var alltaf frekar leiðinlegt að fara þarna þegar það voru bara tvö klósett til staðar.
Þegar ég kom inn í salinn sá ég að það voru helst 12-16 ára krakkar þarna með tilheyrandi flissi og gelgju og út myndina voru tvær sérstaklega skemmtilegar fyrir aftan mig sem fengu "the evil eye" frekar oft í gegnum myndina.

Hún hefur alltaf verið ótrúlega sterkur karakter en í þessari mynd er hún orðin frekar mikill vælari og lætur tilfinningarnar stjórna sér einum of mikið, aðeins of dramatísk á stundum.

Jennifer Lawrence notast við hárkollu í þessari mynd í fyrsta sinn (hún litaði á sér hárið fyrir hinar tvær) og ég verð að segja, hárkollurnar hennar eru "aðeins" betur gerðar en þær voru fyrir Bellu í Twilight myndunum.
Katniss, Hunger Games
Bella, Twilight

--

I went to see this movie with my sister on Friday night, after a lot of excitement, mostly on my part. When I entered the auditorium, I noticed it mostly had kids aged 12-16, giggling and making noise. Behind me, there were two girls, especially giddy who got the evil eye numerous times throughout the film. Don't they know the code of conduct?! (one point if you get this reference ;) )
The movie was really fun although I would think it would be rather confusing if you haven't watch the other two. When I think back though, not much happened, they wouldn't have had to make the last book into two movies but of course, then you only would have had to pay once, not twice.
By the middle of the film, Katniss was beginning to get on my nerves. She has always been a really strong character but here, she is just whiny and way too emotional and dramatic.

Jennifer Lawrence uses a wig in this movie for the first time (she colored her hair for the other two movies) and I have to say, her wigs are just a tad better quality then Bella's wigs were in the Twilight saga. That bothered me so much I didn't even watch the last movie...well, that and the horrible acting.

Happy hour!

Happy hour in Iceland is not that common, which is hard to believe considering is the time that you would get beer cheap. I think the view "go big or go home" makes a difference there, the view that if your are not getting piss roaring drunk, why bother?
I believe it is changing in Iceland..or at least I hope it is because it's so much fun! Get a beer or two and have fun and talk to your friends..and then you can go home and have a late dinner! What's not to love?

This afternoon, we went to the Icelandic bar. The price for the beer (all beer on tap)/wine glass was 700 ISK, compared to the 1200 it is usually so I would think that's a pretty sweet deal.

Jólasmákökur / Christmas cookies

Fyrstu jólasmákökur þessi jólin eru í ofninum þegar ég skrifa þetta.

Mér finnst uppskriftirnar hennar alltaf svo ótrúlega girnilegar eitthvað.

Annars fór ég í Elko í dag til að kaupa eldhúsvog, einmitt til að baka téðar smákökur. Þar var kona með ca. 6 ára gamlan strák sem öskraði úr sér lungun *öskraði, grét ekki* á meðan mamman tók mynd af mjög sniðugri kaffivél. Ég þakkaði henni innilega fyrir að hafa gert reynslu mína þarna inni svona ánægjulega.

---

This year's first christmas cookies are in the oven when I'm writing this.
I used this recipe, http://eldhussogur.com/2014/11/17/jolamolar-med-karamellu-pippi/ which is in Icelandic so this will not be useful for you folks that don't speak Icelandic, unless google translate can actually translate...I doubt it.

I went to Elko today to buy a kitchen scale to bake said cookies. There was a woman there with about six year old boy that was screaming *screaming was not accompanied by crying* while his mom took photos of a very nice coffeemaker. I thinked her profusely (in my head) for making my shopping experience  so enjoyable.
